Join a cohort of like-minded Anabaptists, desiring to grow in their faith and knowledge of the Scriptures and committed to learning from the expertise of community leaders.

Apologetics

This course equips students with basic Christian apologetic skills from an Anabaptist perspective. Topics include the history of apologetics, the existence of God, the problem of evil, approaches to apologetics, the authority of Scripture, biblical harmonization, and responses to objections toward the faith.

Old Testament Introduction

This course offers a comprehensive survey of the Old Testament, examining the content, structure, historical background, literary features, and theological themes of the Hebrew Scriptures from Genesis to Malachi. Rooted in an Anabaptist perspective and Christocentric hermeneutic, the course encourages students to engage Scripture with reverence, highlighting themes of community, peace, and God’s call to holiness. Students will consider the implications of Old Testament teaching for ethical living and the continuity of God’s mission from the Old to the New Testaments.

Counseling

This course offers an in-depth exploration of Biblical Counseling, rooted in the conviction that Scripture is fully sufficient for addressing all aspects of human life. This course equips students to counsel others effectively using the Word of God. Emphasizing the biblical mandate to “admonish” and “teach”, “, students will learn to apply scriptural truths to real-life situations, fostering genuine heart change through the power of the Holy Spirit.

World Religions

This course provides a survey of the major world religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, and select new religious movements. Students will explore the historical development, core beliefs, practices, and worldviews of each religion. From a biblical worldview, students will be equipped to engage with adherents of other faiths in a Christ-honoring manner. Particular attention will be given to evaluating each religion’s truth claims in light of Scripture, understanding the spiritual needs of its followers, and considering effective, culturally sensitive approaches to gospel witness. This course is both a theological and missional preparation for a world of religious diversity.

Evangelism

This course provides a biblical and practical foundation for evangelism by integrating timeless principles from Jesus’ disciple-making strategy with effective methods for sharing the gospel in a skeptical and diverse world. Students will learn to engage others through storytelling, cultural awareness, apologetics, and simple, reproducible evangelism strategies.

Perspectives

Perspectives is a fifteen-lesson discipleship course exploring different aspects of God’s global purpose in a multi-faceted learning experience. The course examines the story of God fulfilling His promises from four vantage points or “perspectives” – Biblical, Historical, Cultural, and Strategic. The Biblical and Historical sections establish the foundation of our confidence in the historic fact of God’s persistent work to make His name known to the nations from the dawn of history until today. The Cultural and Strategic sections highlight that we are in the midst of a costly but very “do-able” task. These sections confirm the Biblical and Historical hope we have with the invitation to co-labor with God in His mission (course description taken from Perspectives.org).

Communicative Greek

This course covers basic grammar, syntax, and vocabulary of Koine Greek. Students will acquire basic oral communication skills and will be introduced to much of the morphology of Greek nouns and verbs. This class, along with the second semester of Greek, will prepare students to be able to read and comprehend basic passages from the Greek New Testament.

Ministry Of The Word

This course prepares students for preaching in a congregational setting, speaking on Christian topics, or leading small-group Bible studies. Important principles of preaching, public speaking, and leading Bible studies are covered including crafting exegetical outlines, preparation of sermons, preaching methods, encouraging participation, and techniques of engaging public speaking. It offers students opportunities to preach, lead Bible studies, or speak in public with critiques from the instructor and fellow students.

Wisdom Literature

This course examines the books of the Hebrew Scriptures commonly referred to as the Wisdom Literature, focusing primarily on the poetry of Job, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes. Course content will include introductions to the various books, characteristics of Hebrew poetry, the cultural and historical context of their emergence, critical issues, exegesis of selected passages, and a broad overview of major theological themes and theological questions they elicit. Students will learn the material through readings, discussions, course teaching and exegetical projects. The goal is to prepare students to appreciate, interpret, apply, and teach from these books in ministries of the church.
